There is a huge gap between the bottom of my front door and the floor of my house. As such, the draft during the winter is pretty intense. Today in particular the winds have been gusting at over 40 mph outside, so you can imagine the draft has been pretty bad. We had a little rug that we rolled up and shoved into the gap, which belonged to roommate V. So that’s out. I looked all over the house for something that would block the draft while not being something that we cared was wadded up on the floor. It was tough. Most things were too small and flimsy and were actually blown out of the way. Finally as a last resort, I decided that I’d use my bath towel, and then just wash it really really well before I used it again. But I couldn’t quite bring myself to do it. So I thought about how I could make a draft guard for the door. I figured that I’d buy what I needed tomorrow and just suffer through the rest of the day today. I looked through what random materials I had packed away in the corner, and eureka! I had just what I needed right here.
So I took an old pair of jeans that I’d avoided throwing out for whatever reason, and I cut the legs off. I rolled up a fleece blanket and pulled it through the cut off legs, then tied off the ends and middle with hair ties. And viola!
Now there’s no draft, I spent no money, and I don’t care that my old jeans are getting dirty on the floor. It’s going to be a much warmer winter.

You really ARE a genius!!!
Brilliant! Hope you’re warm and toasty!
